Richard Madden still working as Game of Thrones’ hype man, promises shock death
We’re less than six weeks away from the start of Season 5, which means we can actually go to HBO’s online schedule and see what’s coming. Unfortunately, not much–not even an episode title. You can see there that the running time 53 minutes, so if you were hoping for a supersized premiere, you might be a little disappointed.
Fun Fact: As of today, if you started watching an episode a day, you’d finish right on time and be caught up for Season 5.
Second Fun Fact: If you want to know who is going to die this coming season, try asking the dead.
Pedro Pascal may have given the Red Wedding a run for its money last season in “The Mountain and the Viper”, but Richard Madden as Robb Stark still holds the title for Biggest Death in my book. And apparently that insider track to the Westerosi afterlife has given him insights on who has run down the curtain and joined the bleedin’ choir invisible.

Talking to ZapIt on his tour for his upcoming film Cinderella, Madden revealed:
“I do know of a death that’s going to happen in Season 5 that you’re not going to see coming.”
Even though Madden, who played Robb Stark for the first three season of “Thrones,” knows this big spoiler about Season 5, he says he tries to avoid learning what’s coming up in the new episodes — which is apparently hard when you’re friends with Kit Harington. “I have to cover my ears so he doesn’t tell me.”
Considering that Kit Harrington has been the loose lips all preseason run up, this doesn’t surprise me a bit. But even though Madden does know one of the big spoilers coming down the pipeline, he says that doesn’t ruin the season for him.
“I can’t wait for the new season,” he says. “It’s a joy. I can just watch it and not know what’s coming next, you know? I used to read all the scripts so I knew what was happening, and now I can just watch watch it and be like, ‘What’s going next? What’s this? What’s that?'” [H]e confirms “there are some changes” from the George R.R. Martin novels in the books. Looking back at the lessons learned from Robb’s death, he says, “Good people never survive on ‘Game of Thrones.’ That’s the problem.”
Well, at least that part’s not a spoiler.
