Second Game of Thrones Season 5 Trailer Released at Apple Event

Moments ago, the Apple Watch Event surprised everyone by turning into an HBO Now announcement. But then, the real news for fans hit. HBO CEO Richard Plepler debuted the second trailer for Game of Thrones Season 5. This now marks the second trailer that’s not been released through the traditional HBO roll out format. The first one came via IMAX. This comes via Apple. Couple this with the experiment with a snapchat like format for “The Raven Bringing The Sight” over the last month, and it’s very clear that HBO is planning on cutting the cord to television in more ways than one.

The trailer and all accompanying speculation is below the cut.

• Lannister, Baratheon, Stark, Tyrell–they’re all just spokes in a wheel. And though the shot of Cersei exiting her litter, Sansa on a windswept field and Arya playing with her Braavosi coin are all new, the shots of Jaime in Dorne and Stannis at the wall is not.
• The Masters look woefully unprepared to fight the Unsullied.
• That shot of the bridge looks like the filming from Cordoba
• I’m still in love with Margaery’s second wedding gown, though Cersei looks none too pleased…
• More shots of the Army of the Faith destroying the market.
• More battling with the Masters, this time in masks.
• First shots of Jon Snow arriving in what we believe to be Hardhome.
• Tyrion and the Dragon. (Which we must assume is Drogon, since the other two are locked up.
• Eww, I don’t need to see Ramsey have sex
• Sansa and a candle
• That looks like slave fighting practice
• You break that wheel Dany!
• Roose Bolton just noticed Stannis is at the Wall.
• Brienne in what looks to be a mild snow storm. Winter must really be coming.
• Jon Snow is going to try and bring the Wildling Army to the Castle Black Army. I feel like that won’t go over well….
• That harpy being pulled down is still awesome.
• FINALLY JONATHAN PRYCE
• This was the scene with Tommen we saw footage of back in October.
• Everybody! Fight!
• Dany: “I am a queen, not a butcher.” We’ll see about that, won’t we?
• Especially since she’s still seeing Drogon on the sly….
