Game of Thrones Season 5: Invitation to the Set (Video)

Yesterday, HBO released a Meet the Sand Snakes video, through the official Game of Thrones YouTube channel. Today we have an all new Game of Thrones Season 5 video, with “Invitation to the Set“. In the video, Game of Thrones showrunners, D.B. Weiss and David Benioff, discuss the overlapping of character story-arcs and deaths.

In regards to Season 5, Benioff has this to say:

“That means characters colliding with each other, it means more people dying, and it means we are getting closer to the end-game.”

There’s that pesky “people dying” phrase that, in one form or another, is starting to become synonymous with Season 5. We’ve had cast members talk about surprise deaths, George R.R. Martin address the issue, and Benioff and Weiss talking about people dying. Heck, even former cast members like Richard Madden (Robb Stark), are weighing in.

D.B. Weiss adds:

“Seeing these people that we are so invested in, meet each other, there’s such an inherent charge to that.”

Weiss hits the proverbial nail on the head here, because for 4 seasons, the core cast has had their separate story-arcs play out in different parts of Westeros and Essos. Now, as Game of Thrones nears the end (unless they go with more than 7 seasons), bringing all these characters together should make the story all the more interesting.
