Peter Dinklage may join Christian Bale in The Deep Blue Good-by
Of all the actors whose careers have been given a boost by appearing on Game of Thrones, Peter Dinklage may have benefited the most. He’s always gotten work, but since taking up the role of Tyrion Lannister, he’s starred as the villain in the high-profile X-Men: Days of Future Past, appeared on Saturday Night Live, and will even voice an Angry Bird in the movie version of the popular mobile phone distraction Angry Birds.
According to Variety, his star may continue to rise with a role in The Deep Blue Good-by. Christian Bale will play the lead, Travis McGee, a “salvage consultant” who gets hired out to recover his client’s stolen property, often by legally dubious means. Along the way, he battles a series of colorful villains and beds a lot of women, which makes him sort of the beach bum version of James Bond, if James Bond lived in Fort Lauderdale on a houseboat. Gone Girl’s Rosamund Pike will also star as someone looking for a paycheck.
Anyway, there’s no word on who Dinklage might play, but if the movie is a hit it could mean a steady paycheck, since The Deep Blue Good-by is the first in a series of 21 novels by John D. MacDonald. After all, Game of Thrones will only be around for three-six more years, so Dinklage had better start planning for his future now.
