Belfast Moot 3 becomes TitanCon
As has been noted and lamented by the fan community as well as George R.R. Martin and Parris, once Game of Thrones hits the air, meeting in relatively small numbers in a cosy atmosphere of a local pub will become impossible due to the expected great increase of public interest. In a pre-emptive move, the crew who brought you the previous iterations of Belfast Moots – Ser Mountain Goat, Silverjaime, and Rimshot – joined forces as representatives of the Brotherhood Without Banners with a group of Belfast SF/F fans called The Other Ones (with good ties to Studio NI, a communications network for writers, film-makers, actors, and production staff) in order to set up a full-blown fan convention dubbed TitanCon. Here follows the announcement from MG himself with all the details:
TitanCon will be held on Sat 24 September 2011 at the Europa Exhibition Centre in Belfast.
Our Guest of Honour is SF author and Belfast local Ian McDonald. Sadly George’s schedule this year is just so crazy we don’t know if he will be able to get to Belfast this year. This con isn’t just about GoT, it aims to cover the broad spectrum of SF/F literature, media and gaming.
We cannot confirm any guests from Game of Thrones at this time – we have to wait till season 2 gets the greenlight but we are extremely confident that will happen and we intend to do everything we can to get some cast and crew members along to TitanCon as guests. Even if we fail in that there will be several discussion panels on the show.
We are offering an open invitation to all cast and crew members to come down and be our guests.
