New Spanish Canal+ Video Features New Season 5 Footage

Canal+ has been a font of information throughout this off season. The premium cable channel, based out of France, is not a partner with HBO in the area–that would be Orange France–but they do have rerun rights. You wouldn’t know they aren’t the first run channel, though, the way they’ve been able to get photos and footage all throughout the filming of Dorne in Seville. Now they’ve got a brand new special that includes interviews with the cast (which are dubbed over in Spanish), plus brand new footage we haven’t seen yet.

The video, plus a breakdown of the new stuff we haven’t seen yet, is below.

The opening scene starts out with brand new shots of Tyrion with the full beard and Cersei in a hall full of candles, which I assume is Tywin’s funeral. There’s also a clear shot of the Army of the Faith starting the riots in the marketplace, followed by a shot of the new High Septon (Jonathan Pryce) standing in front of an audience that includes Cersei and King Tommen in a very sparse and small room.

In the next shot, it looks like Loras attempts to attack the High Septon. Guessing this might have to do with Margaery?

We also have shots of slaves in a pit practice fighting–or perhaps really fighting? And then there’s more of the Sons of the Harpies causing unrest in Meereen. That moves into Daario fighting the Sons in Daznak’s pit, which is a scene we’ve seen glimpses of before. There’s a lot of new footage from the pit, including some shots of the harpies stopping the gladiator games dead, and threatening Dany.

It’s unfortunate they turned the English so low in the mix, as this is the first time I’ve seen interviews with Jessica Henwick and Rosabell Laurent Sellers, the actresses playing the younger Sand Snakes. Same goes for the interview with Alexander Siddig and Deobia Oparei. Hopefully, we’ll be able to find the original in the next couple of days. (Considering that I’ve seen that interview clip of Iain Glen and Nathalie Emmanuel before, I figure they have to be running around. If you’ve seen them, give a shout out in the comments.)

At least the clip of the scene between Ellaria Sand and Doran Martell is just captioned instead of overdubbed, so we can hear her yelling at him. “Your brother was murdered, and you sit here, in the Water Gardens, staring at the sky, and doing nothing.” Besides the Mereenese stuff, Dorne gets the bulk of the new footage–everything from Sansa to Theon and Jon are all from last season. (Which means we get to hear their overdubbed voices. Jon Snow’s sudden deep rich baritone is startling.) We even get a glimpse of the new Disney Princess-ified Myrcella in her surprisingly pink gown. (I suppose it will eventually stop weirding me out, but right now it’s still something of a shock.)
