Inside The Episode: The Wars To Come

HBO’s “Inside The Episode” web series returns to the Game of Thrones YouTube channel. We’ve got three different takes for the opening episode: one from David Benioff and Dan Weiss, one from George RR Martin, and finally, one from Ciarán Hinds and Kit Harington.

In the first, Benioff and Weiss break down the key scenes of the episode. The first is Young Cersei and the prophecy, along with how it effects grown-up Cersei’s mindset. Second up, they discuss the scene where Varys tries to convince Tyrion to try something other than wine. And finally, they talk Jon’s choice at the end of the episode to spare Mance an inglorious end.

In Martin’s clip, he focuses exclusively on the Young Cersei scene.

In the final clip, Ciarán Hinds talks about the reality of accepting the invitation to one’s “own barbeque,” while Harington discusses Jon Snow’s choice to cut Melisandre and Stannis’ show short.

And as a bonus, HBO has put the prophecy scene online for us to watch to our heart’s content.
