Dany’s Body Double To Get Her Own Role on Game of Thrones

Most of the time, Game of Thrones fans don’t think about the extras on the show. And they really don’t think about the extras who we’re supposed to believe are the real actors. Body doubles can be something of a thankless role. If it’s done right, no one will ever even notice the switch.

That’s why even the most dedicated of Thrones watchers probably don’t know the name of Rosie Mac, the British actress who spends her time as Emilia Clarke’s stunt double, right down to the wig.

But apparently her performance as Clarke has caught the producer’s attention. According to YahooUK, she’ll actually have a minor role in the series this coming season. One would hope that it’s minor enough that she doesn’t get killed, but as with all things in Westeros and Essos, death looms over everyone except the most minor of extras, most of whom have outlasted the household names.

Keep an eye out for her in an upcoming episode.

For a body double to get promoted like this is fairly unusual. But in a cast as vast and varied as Game of Thrones’, it’s not surprising they accidentally found extra talent in-house. And getting one’s own role is a whole lot better than finding yourself in front of the camera because someone yelled, “You idiot! You captured their Stunt Doubles!”

One more picture from Rosie Mac’s feed, but if you don’t want spoilers, don’t keep reading.

SPOILERS BEYOND THIS POINT

There was one other picture on Rosie Mac’s feed worth noting, although it could be considered a spoiler–a major one, in fact–for later in the season. About a month or so prior to filming in Spain, there was a casting call for a Tyrion look-alike. At the time, we wondered what that was all about–a sight gag? A secondary dwarf character? Was Tyrion going to Dorne?

But no, it was just casting for a body double for Tyrion in Osuna. It turns out that Tyrion makes it to Meereen after all, and if he doesn’t meet up with Dany, at least their doubles do.
