Jon Snow

All hail the King in the North! Game of Thrones has always been careful to avoid fantasy tropes, but with Jon Snow, it dove right in, and that’s okay. Born a bastard and raised by a woman who hated him, he earned the respect of his brothers in the Night’s Watch through hard work and bravery. Then those same brothers betrayed him only to see him rise from the dead and exact revenge on those responsible for the downfall of his family. Jon Snow is the stereotypical messianic hero.
He’s already died once, and I just don’t see him dying again, at least not in Season 7. Game of Thrones is based on George R.R. Martin’s A Song of Ice and Fire. Now that we know Jon is the son of Lyanna Stark (ice) and Rhaegar Targaryen (fire), he’s revealed to be the embodiment of the title. If Jon dies and is never again raised from the dead, then the story of Game of Thrones/A Song of Ice and Fire means nothing. But this is Game of Thrones…so you never really know what to expect.
