In order for Beric to keep on kickin’, we have to assume that Thoros of Myr will do the same. Obviously, Beric doesn’t have a great track record for staying alive. The guy’s died several times, and has only come back because Thoros has been quick to invoke the Lord of Light’s blessing over his corpse on each occasion. And unless Melisandre would be willing to work a little magic for someone she doesn’t believe is the prince that was promised…Well, it suffices to say that Beric and Thoros are something of a package deal.

Judging by how things have gone for him thus far, though, I have to give Beric unfavorable odds. One of these days, he’s gonna die with no one around to resurrect him. I’ll tentatively say that he’ll make it out of Season 7, but for the series overall, I don’t see it. And even beyond his terrible track record with combat, religious upheaval has been a problem for many characters, and it would probably be best if Westeros just ditched all that after the final battle. They probably won’t, but they could stand to chill out a bit, at least. Beric, meanwhile, lives to serve a religious order, and I don’t know that he’ll have a place in the post-war world.

Beric’s a solid guy and an interesting character. I’m glad that, for the time being, it seems like we’ll get a little more of him. But he’s gotten plenty of second chances already. They’re going to run out sooner or later. Seeing as we only have 13 episodes left, it’ll probably be sooner.
