33) MICHIEL HUISMAN

Michiel Huisman was the second actor to play Daario Naharis, but his dreamy-eyed good looks won over the Queen of Dragons, if only for a time. In a 2015 interview with PopSugar, Huisman talked about how Thrones is a different animal compared to other TV shows or movies:

If I compare the differences between shooting for TV shows versus film, then Game of Thrones doesn’t fit into either one. It’s a whole different experience. The scope is larger than any movie set I’ve ever been on. I worked on World War Z, which was this big production, and you could feel it in everything. But Game of Thrones feels like it’s up there.

Huisman has appeared in a number of Hollywood films — he played Ellis in World War Z (2013), Jonathan in Wild (2014) and Ellis Jones in The Age of Adeline (2015, above, with Blake Lively). His TV work is also impressive, having played Sonny on Treme (2010-2013), Liam McGuinnis on Nashville (2012-2014) and Cal Morrison on Orphan Black (2014-2015).

Huisman is a member of the Dutch Thrones contingent, which includes Carice Van Houten. Like her, he starred in a number of Dutch productions before breaking into the American scene. He even costarred with Van Houten in the Dutch World War 2 thriller Zwartboek (English: Black Book, photo above) in 2006.

We may not see a lot of Daario in 2017, and Huisman is taking advantage: his 2017 projects include The Ottoman Lieutenant, State Like Sleep, 2:22 and Irreplaceable You (filming).
