All men must fall in love—The Top 12 Couples on Game of Thrones
8. Robb and Talisa
Finally, a couple who more-or-less got along. Yes, their marriage ended in bloody death at the Red Wedding, but while they were together, Robb Stark and Talisa Maegyr were among the more functional couples on the show. They loved each other, they supported each other, and they were prepared to raise a family together.
So why are they low on the list? In my opinion, although they gave off plenty of warm fuzzies, these two were a little boring. Jaime and Cersei’s relationship may be rotten to the core, but it’s fascinating to watch. But there was something predictable, almost romcom-like, about Robb and Talisa. When Robb first talked to Talisa the stunning battlefield nurse after a skirmish between the Starks and Lannisters in season 2, did anybody NOT think they would end up together? The bickering hotties who eventually realize they love each other is a sitcom staple, and it seemed a little out of place on Game of Thrones.
Superfans know that Talisa was a character invented for TV. In the books, Robb marries a girl named Jeyne Westerling, and their relationship is a good deal less traditional. The producers, for whatever reason, went with a more straightforward romantic narrative for the show.
Still, it’s hard to begrudge Robb and Talisa their brief moment in the sun. Lord knows Game of Thrones could use more of those.
