“Kill The Boy: Inside The Episode” Clip Leaks
This morning, we found the oddest thing on Instagram—two clips that were purportedly pulled from this coming Sunday’s episode of Game of Thrones, “Kill the Boy.” One was taken down very quickly and the other seemed cut off. We couldn’t figure out where they were from, only that the person who posted them said they were from OSN.com (OSN is the pay TV channel in the Middle East and North Africa that has the simulcast and first run rights to Game of Thrones in that region).
Now, the entire video from which both clips were pulled from has been posted. It turns out that it’s the “Inside the Episode” clip that Game of Thrones releases to YouTube right after each episode airs, and that we here at WiC usually run first thing Tuesday morning. OSN.com somehow got a hold of it early. If I had to guess, I’d say HBO can’t be happy about this. The network has already taken measures to prevent whole episodes from leaking. Will this result in further action?
So turn away if you don’t want to know what Benioff and Weiss think are the key scenes of this coming Sunday’s episode. Spoilers for Sunday aren’t coming. They’re here.
[spoiler-head]
Let’s start with the opening scene. It is indeed the Maester Aemon quote that the episode pulls it’s title from. And in this version, we get the full quote, nothing cut off. Also, we learn from Benioff and Weiss that Jon will be making a very unpopular decision. We assume it’s to bring the wildlings and the Night’s Watch together to fight on the same side, but we’ll have to wait for the details. Sam doesn’t look happy, though.
I have to admit, I feel a little less anxious about Sansa’s plot after seeing the whole Dinner with the Bolton’s scene. The original clip cut off that bit about “The way she’s carrying suggests it’s a boy.” Maybe Sansa will be lucky. Maybe Roose Bolton is smart enough to know that his son can’t treat Sansa the way he usually treats his pets, and will, ironically, be the one to keep her safe, at least until the wedding.
MORE HISTORICAL STORIES. The Doom of Valyria! I’m such a geek—I love these history bombs they’re been dropping all over the place this season. The way Iain Glen sonorously delivers those lines…I’d clap too. It’s also good to see Jorah and Tyrion getting along. And there’s Drogon….
