WiC Live: “The Queen’s Justice”

Welcome back to WiC Live, our Game of Thrones aftershow. This week, Kayla Knierim and I break down “The Queen’s Justice,” last Sunday’s new episode of the show. We’re joined by FanSided editor Josh Hill, who lends his inestimable insights and interestingly patterned socks to the discussion. Watch it above!

Topics include:

  • Did we wish that Dany had Jon had gotten off on a better foot?
  • How’s Dany’s intimidation game?
  • If Dany ever finds out about Jon’s true heritage, will it cause problems for her and Jon?
  • This guy is my new favorite:

  • Melisandre is back to creeping people out. How have our feelings about her changed after seeing go through a crisis of faith over the past couple of seasons?
  • Josh has a beef with Varys the Spider. Will we see the parallel between him and Littlefinger continue?
  • Sansa speaks for the audience when she’s baffled by Bran’s attempt to explain what the Three-Eyed Raven can do.
  • While we’re on the subject of baffling things, what did we make of Littlefinger’s bizarre speech about ruling?
  • Can Sansa and Bran have a loving brother-sister relationship after all they’ve been through?
  • We quickly go over Theon’s bailing on Yara last week, and wonder where he goes from here. Will he get his hero moment before the end?
  • The people of King’s Landing sure love shame walks, don’t they?
  • Is Cersei making the right move by stringing Euron along? Are we heading for a Cersei-Jaime-Euron love triangle?
  • Say what you will about the Ellaria Sand and the Sand Snakes: that scene in the dungeon with Cersei was intense.
  • Did Cersei poison Jaime by accident when she made out with him? Whatever the case, good god, Jaime, get out of this relationship.
  • Josh: “[Cersei’s] like this perfect Bond villain now where she’s got everybody dressing like her.”
  • A lot of fans assumed that Daenerys would easily defeat Cersei, but the show is flipping our expectations.
  • Is there anything Samwell Tarly can’t do?
  • The group agrees that Daenerys probably shouldn’t go riding off with the dragons in search of Euron’s fleet. But with her allies dropping like flies, will her advisers be able to hold her back?
  • What did we think of Game of Thrones indulging into the whole “Here’s how it’s gonna go down” trope.
  • We hated to lose Olenna Tyrell, but at least she went down in style.
  • I have a lot of trouble pointing to the map. I need a longer pointer.

Thanks for watching, and join us next week when we discuss “The Spoils of War.”
