“Game of Thrones: The Musical” The Uncut Version

Red Nose Day USA on NBC seems to have been a success, raising $10 million dollars by the time the third hour of the special finished airing. (Or as Jane Krakowski referred to it “The 16th hour of The Today Show” and “The Fifth Hour of The Voice.“)

Said three-hour telecast had some highlights and lowlights, but the biggest drawat least based on the number of teasers the charity special put out ahead of time—was bringing aboard no less than a dozen actors from Game of Thrones for a pretaped segment that provided a a behind-the-scenes look at Chris Martin’s struggle to bring Game of Thrones: The Musical to Broadway. The version NBC has available is the shorter one that runs about 6 minutes. This morning, Coldplay officially released the full 12 minute uncut version, with all the songs in full.

Some observations:

  • Iwan Rheon, as we have noted before, is a musician in his own right, and this was a chance to introduce himself to an American audience as someone other than the Theon-torturing, Sansa-raping Ramsay Snow, so it’s not a surprise he ended up with the most screen time of the whole cast. Also, I want his recording of “I’m a Real Bastard.”
  • Kit Harington’s face was made for deadpan. This is the second time he’s been screamingly funny by playing it straight.
  • The lyrics to Red Wedding. “Lots of stabbing and a bit of beheading.” Bam, curtain, Tony Award indeed.
  • Chris Martin is lucky George only cancelled the musical, instead of throwing him and girlfriend Jennifer Lawrence a wedding.
  • Diana Rigg is never wrong.

So….what are the chances Coldplay will release this as an album?
