Celebrity roundup: Kit Harington’s New Gig, Emilia Clarke’s New ‘Do

Now that Jon Snow has been killed off on Game of Thrones (What? Lies! Etc…), Kit Harington has time to take on some other parts. According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actor has been cast in Brimstone, a movie from Dutch writer-director Martin Koolhoven. He’ll play “an outlaw who has a crucial role in the tale of retribution,” a part previously slotted for fellow British heartthrob Robert Pattinson.

The movie will also star Dakota Fanning as a girl being chased by an “evil preacher” played by Guy Pearce. I’ve heard less interesting synopses.

For those wondering if this means that Harington really is trying to fill his time now that he won’t be appearing on Game of Thrones, it’s probably too early to be drawing any conclusions. After all, plenty of cast members, including Harington, have filmed movies in between seasons before. Also, Brimstone will also be starring Carice Van Houten, and we know she’ll be returning as Melisandre next year. Basically, until and unless Harington cuts his raven signature locks, nothing is certain.

Speaking of signature locks, Emelia Clarke recently cut hers in preparation for her Terminator: Genisys press tour. The actress posted a picture of herself with a short, shoulder-length bob to her Instagram account. It’s a change from her usual lengthier haircut.

Incidentally, if there was any doubt as to whether Clarke was a celebrity before, there shouldn’t be now, because we’re reporting on her hair. Unlike Kit Harington, however, Clarke wears a wig for the show, so this implies nothing about her continued presence on Game of Thrones. The fact that Clarke is a brunette in real life probably allows her a level of anonymity someone like Harington can’t hope to achieve.
