as Jorah Mormont
Character Overview: Ser Jorah Mormont is an exiled knight. Middle-aged but still strong and fit, he is a capable warrior. Mormont fled Westeros to escape execution for trading in slaves, and entered the service of the last Targaryens, Viserys and Daenerys. – Wikipedia
Recent Events: Exiled to Essos for human trafficking, Jorah appears first at the wedding of Daenerys Targaryen and Khal Drogo, where he offers a gift of books containing songs and stories from Westeros. Swearing fealty to the “true king” Viserys, Jorah joins Daenerys’s company as they travel to Vaes Dothrak. However, Viserys soon orders Jorah to kill Daenerys’s men in retaliation for her own retaliation for Viserys attempting to hit her. Jorah refuses this order; from this point forward, he becomes one of Dany’s most trusted advisors and loyal friends. During this time, Jorah is secretly acting as a spy for Varys in King’s Landing, reporting on Dany’s movements and actions, including her pregnancy with “The Stallion Who Mounts The World”. Jorah still attempts to warn Viserys not to become aggravated with Dany or the Dothraki, but his warnings fall on deaf ears as Viserys is soon executed with a boiling pot of molten gold.
During a trip to the market, Jorah receives word of his royal pardon from Varys, but manages to head off the assassination attempt on Dany’s life. Henceforth, he ceases spying for Varys, serving Dany loyally. He is present at the death of her husband and the birth of her dragons; he travels with her across the Red Waste, into the viper’s nest that is Qarth, and on her conquest across Essos, from Astapor to Yunkai to, finally, Meereen. All the while, he continues to provide counsel for Dany, often serving as a counterpoint to Ser Barristan Selmy, who joins them in Astapor. However, his counsel is also weighted by his apparent love for Dany, a feeling she does not reciprocate.
In Meereen, Jorah’s previous work as a spy for Varys is uncovered by Dany; feeling betrayed, she discharges Jorah from her service.
