Game of Thrones nominated for two ASC Outstanding Achievement Awards

For the third year in a row, Game of Thrones has been nominated for the American Society of Cinematographers (ASC) Outstanding Achievement Award in Television. This is the second straight year they’ve garnered two different nominations in the Regular Series One-Hour Television Award category.

The first nomination for this year goes to Fabian Wagner for his work on the eighth episode of Season 4, “Mockingbird”. The second nomination goes to Anette Haellmigk, for her work on the series’ finale “The Children”. Haellmigk was previously nominated for her work on the program last year for Season 3’s “Kissed By Fire”.

These nominations combine with one for Boardwalk Empire, giving HBO a total of three nominations, more than any other channel. Jonathan Freeman, who is nominated for Boardwalk Empire‘s season opener, won last year for his work on Game of Thrones Season 3, on the episode “Valar Dohaeris”.

Game of Thrones has been nominated three years running now, after being snubbed for Season 1. In 2012, Kramer Morgenthau was nominated for Season 2’s “The North Remembers”. That year the show tied for the win with the British TV series Hunted. With another two nominations this year, odds are good that the show is headed for another win.
