Fans Start Petition for Harington To Cut His Hair

Jon Snow is dead. Or is he? It depends on who you ask. Beyond that, every last person associated with the show insists that Snow is dead, and we also know Kit Harington has signed on for a new movie role. But of course, that doesn’t mean he’s totally off the show, since he filmed Testament of Youth and Pompeii with no problems.

So is he or isn’t he? The suspense is too much for some fans to bear. They have to know, and they have to know ASAP.

And let’s be real—there’s only one way to be sure, isn’t there? And that’s for Kit Harington to cut that hair.

Kit, with his long locks slicked back in order to look shorter

As we discussed prior to the season starting, Kit’s ‘do is required by his contract. Much like Emma Watson in the Harry Potter series, the character must have hair of a specific length, and the actor must keep it that way as long as he is under contract. It’s how you knew Harry Potter filming was well and truly finished—Watson got a pixie cut.

But Harington hasn’t gone under the shears yet. He’s stated in interviews that he’s thinking he’ll leave it long for now, because until he has a role to cut it for, it’s easier to keep it long than to regrow it. And that’s just too much of a tease for fans to handle. They’ve started a petition demanding that if Harington is really off the show for good, he must cut his hair.

As a dedicated Game of Thrones fan, myself, alongside many others, are sick and tired of being toyed around by your beautifully, luscious locks. This whole full-head of lush, to a massacred forest, to a hairurrection thing is tearing us apart. If “Dead is Dead” as GoT show creators suggest, cut those locks down-a-size so we can finally begin to move on with our lives.

As of this writing, only five people have signed on to this demand, suggesting that either fans don’t want to know, or don’t want to have their worst fears confirmed. (Editor’s note: Or they don’t care, because it is very silly.) Or perhaps they just like looking at Harington with his pretty curls. It certainly helps when he films ads for companies like both Jimmy Choo, among others.
